If you are genuinely interested in kissing and want to explore it in depths, then you can actually make a career out of it. Before your mind starts to wander in the wrong direction- the study of kissing is known as Philematology, and it was introduced somewhere in the 19th century. We bet you did not know this one!

2. This is how much you will kiss in your life!

Kissing

According to a study, an average person spends about 20,160 minutes (two weeks) in his/her life kissing.

3. There’s a world record too…

Kissing

When there’s a world record for almost anything and everything, then why to spare kissing. Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat from Thailand hold the Guinness World Records for the longest-lasting kiss. And can you guess the record time? It’s 58 hours, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds! Whoa…we wonder how they kept their mood going for all this time, and most importantly, how they managed the loo breaks!

4. It’s good for your health

Kissing

Apart from making you feel jovial and loved, kissing strengthens your immune system, relieves aches, and burns three to four calories per minute. Guess, you have a few more reasons to keep doing it!

5. It puts your muscles to work

Kissing

When you are kissing, you are actually coordinating your 146 muscles to make it happen, including 34 facial muscles and 112 postural muscles. And you thought it is about just moving your lips!

6. Do you also tilt your head right?

Kissing

German researcher Onur Güntürkün observed (or spied?) 224 couples kissing in public places in the United States, Germany, and Turkey, and concluded that two third of the people tilt their head to their right when they lock lips. So, you are actually in the minority if you bend your head towards your left when you kiss.

7. There’s a logic behind your lust for kissing

Kissing

Do you feel like passionately kissing your partner forever? Blame your hormones for that! When you kiss, your body releases adrenaline and noradrenaline that makes you excited. In fact, your heart rate increases and sugars break down in the body to give you more energy. In turn, you are prepared for the time ahead!

Also, when you kiss someone for the first time (oh, that first time!), you get a spike in the neurotransmitter dopamine that makes you crave for more and more.
